Raised in the close-knit community of Hopkins, SC, Wendell’s journey was shaped by humble beginnings and a deep commitment to service. His ministry began at Zion Benevolent Baptist Church, where he served as Associate Pastor for five years. Ordained to preach in 1990, he has faithfully served as Pastor of Zion Mill Creek Baptist Church in Columbia, SC, since February 1993. Under his leadership, the church has experienced meaningful growth in membership, ministry initiatives, and community impact.

He later served in school administration as Assistant Principal at Lower Richland High School and as Principal of Great Falls Middle School and Great Falls Elementary School. During his leadership, both schools earned major recognition, including designation as a Microsoft Showcase School and receiving SC Title I Distinguished School for Progress and National Title I Distinguished School honors. Wendell currently serves as Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources for Chester County School District in Chester, SC, leading efforts in educator recruitment, retention, and professional development.
